Real Estate in Kamloops is a hot market, like the rest of British Columbia. Single family homes can be bought for under $325,000, but only in the older areas of Kamloops such as North Shore, Brock, and some outlying areas.
The higher end areas like Aberdeen and Sahali have single family homes starting around the $350,000 mark. Some of the surrounding communities that contribute to the Kamloops economy include: Barriere, Ashcroft, Chase, Blue River, Cache Creek, Clearwater, Clinton, Logan Lake, Merritt, and Lytton. Some of the major employers in Kamloops include: Weyerhauser (now Domtar) Pulp Mill, Tolko Lumber Mill, LaFarge Cement, British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Pollard Banknote (which makes the lottery tickets), NRI distribution, and Convergys. Kamloops is also a recreation focal point with amenities such as Sun Peaks Resort, Harper Mountain Ski Hill, Lac Le Jeune, Kamloops Lake, Shuswap Lake and the North and South Thompson Rivers.
